The occupation of Kabul by the Taliban regime and the fall of the previous regime on 15 August 2021 came as a surprise to much of Japanese society. Pathways Japan is urging the government to prepare for the arrival of Afghans and others with ties to Japan and to improve the domestic the reception system.
