Japanese Language School Pathways for Admission of Syrian, Afghan, and Ukrainian students FY 2026 application starts

Pathways Japan implements “Japanese Language School Pathways,” a program that admits students with refugee backgrounds from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine to Japan to study at a Japanese language school for two years and pursue higher education or employment.

We are pleased to announce the start of the applications for FY 2026. Through the Japanese Language School Pathways program, we plan to increase the number of students admitted from 24 last year to a total of 32 this year. Also, the Japan-Syria Japanese Language School Pathways program, which previously targeted people living in Türkiye, has been expanded to include people who have fled to countries other than Türkiye.

The application period for these programs is from Wednesday, 23rd July to Friday, 15th August, 2025.
For each program, we will hold online information sessions.
If you are considering applying to any of the programs, please attend the information sessions if possible, read the program overview and application guidelines carefully, and submit your application by the deadline using the application form.
