Japanese Language School Pathways for Admission of Syrian, Afghan, and Ukrainian students FY 2027 application Information

Pathways Japan implements “Japanese Language School Pathways,” a program that admits students with refugee backgrounds from Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine to Japan to study at a Japanese language school for two years and pursue higher education or employment.

We are pleased to announce the publication of the application information for FY 2027. Through the Japanese Language School Pathways program, we plan to increase the number of students admitted from 26 last year to a total around 40 this year.

JAPAN-AFGHANISTAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL PATHWAYS (JALP) 2027
The application period: Friday, 17th July to Monday, 3rd August, 2026
*The application period will start one day later than planned.

JAPAN-SYRIA LANGUAGE SCHOOL PATHWAYS (JSLP) 2027
The application period: Wednesday, 22nd July to Friday, 14th August, 2026.

JAPAN-UKRAINE LANGUAGE SCHOOL PATHWAYS (JULP) 2027
The application period: Wednesday, 22nd July to Friday, 14th August, 2026.

For each program, we will hold online information sessions.
If you are considering applying to any of the programs, please attend the information sessions if possible, read the program overview and application guidelines carefully, and submit your application by the deadline using the application form.
