Call for applications for online course of Japanese for work for Afghans: JLPT N3 preparation class

Pathways Japan is calling for applications for the JLPT N3 level class for “Japanese for work” for Afghans with the Support of the Foundation for the Welfare and Education of the Asian People (FWEAP) and Shinnyo-en.

This course is organized by Pathways Japan and aims to support Afghan evacuees and former students/residents residing in Japan who do not have any other opportunities to learn Japanese for work by a professional language teacher. Through the online lessons, the participants are expected to improve their Japanese language skill for opening up better career opportunities and building competencies in Japan.

Course outline

JLPT N3 preparation class

Period: 
・Term1: 19th January Monday – 16th March Monday 
・Term2: 23rd March Monday – 20th May Wednesday 

Lesson hours: Monday 7:00-9:00 pm and Wednesday 7:00-9:00 pm

Lessen fee: No fee is required

Type of class: Online class (Zoom)

Class: JLPT N3 level (for people who have passed N4 or have completed a course equivalent to N4), focusing on working environment

Number of participants: 6 (maximum)

Target: Afghan evacuees and residents in Japan who have difficulty in returning home

Deadline for submission: 27th November, Thursday 

*A follow-up course for preparation for JLPT N3  will follow after Term2.

Eligibility

●        Applicants must have passed JLPT N4 or have completed a course equivalent to N4(This is not a beginner course).

*This course is for people who are planning to take the N3 exam for the first time.

Those who have already applied for JLPT N3 or above (N2 or N1) in December 2025, or those who have taken the N3 or above exam before, are not eligible.

●        Applicants have to be older than 15 years old (negotiable for participation under 15 years)

●        Applicants should be able to attend every class and submit their homework every week. (more than 3 day absences or more than 2 tardies without prior notice to the teacher (more than 10 minutes late) will be considered as failure to continue the program and will not be allowed to participate thereafter)

●        Applicants must be ready to work on given assignments between classes. Taking this course does not guarantee passing N3 and applicants must be prepared to make their own efforts to study for passing N3.

●        Participants should be willing to find employment (or build a further career) in Japan after completion of the class.

*If any false information is found, your participation in the course will be cancelled.

 Motivation letter

Please submit your motivation letter in the application form to explain why you want to participate in the course. Including:
*Your overall situation of life in Japan;
*The reason and purpose of your study for N3 level Japanese;
* Your plan for your job-hunting after completion of this course.

and upload it to the form. The letter should be no longer than 1 page in A4 size and in free format.
