Pathways Japan is calling for applications for the JLPT N2 preparation class for “Japanese for work” for Afghans.The application deadline is Wednesday, October 21st, 2026.
This course aims to support Afghan evacuees and former students/residents residing in Japan who do not have any other opportunities to learn Japanese for work by a professional language teacher. Through the online lessons, the participants are expected to improve their Japanese language skill for opening up better career opportunities and building competencies in Japan.

Course outline
Course title: JLPT N2 preparation class
Period:
・Term1: 19th November Thursday – 14th January Thursday (Tue&Thurs, total 30 hours)
・Term2: 21st January Thursday – 18th March Thursday (Tue&Thurs, total 30 hours)
Lesson hours: Tuesday 7:00-9:00 pm and Thursday 7:00-9:00 pm (twice a week)
Lessen fee: No fee is required
Type of class: Online class (Zoom)
Class: JLPT N2 preparatory level (Those who have passed N3 or have completed a course equivalent to N3, focusing on working environment.)
Number of participants: 6 (maximum)
Target: Afghan evacuees and residents in Japan who have difficulty in returning home
Deadline for submission: Wednesday October 21st, 2026
Eligibility:
● Applicants must have passed JLPT N3 or have completed a course equivalent to N3(Intermediate course).
● This N2 preparation course is for individuals seeking to pass JLPT N2 by building both the foundational and practical skills needed. Those who have already passed N2/N1 or those who have N2 or above equivalent skills are not eligible.
● Applicants have to be older than 15 years old (negotiable for participation under 15 years)
● Applicants should be able to attend every class and submit their homework every week. (*more than 3 day absences or more than 2 tardies without prior notice to the teacher (more than 10 minutes late) will be considered as failure to continue the program and will not be allowed to participate thereafter)
● Applicants must be ready to work on given assignments between classes. Taking this course does not guarantee passing N2 and applicants must be prepared to make their own efforts to study for passing N2.
● Participants should be willing to find employment (or build a further career) in Japan after completion of the class.
*If any false information is found, your participation in the course will be cancelled.

Please submit your motivation letter in the application form to explain why you want to participate in the course. Including:
*Your overall situation of life in Japan
*The reason and purpose of your study for N2 level Japanese
* Your plan for your job-hunting after completion of this course
and upload it to the form. The letter should be no longer than 1 page in A4 size and in free format.

Self Introduction video in Japanese:
Please upload your self introduction video to the form. The video should be 2 to 3 minutes long including a brief self introduction, why you would like to take this course in Japanese.
