As a Vienna International Scholar, he graduated from Brandeis University in 1973. After returning to Japan, he worked for a foreign-affiliated consulting firm before going independent in 1975 to launch an educational business. In 1989, he was asked to develop the U.S. market and moved to the United States. He expanded his business to 38 countries, including North America, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia. Since retiring in 2008, he has devoted himself to scholarship foundation work, establishing numerous educational funds in Japan, the U.S., and Europe. Through his donations to the Toshizo Watanabe International Scholarship Fund, he has made a significant contribution to building the foundation for Japan\u2019s largest scholarship program for refugees and displaced persons, operated by Pathways Japan.
